William Hill’s attempt to enter the Tennessee legal sports betting space before the Super Bowl is on hold.
The sportsbook was planning to launch before the Super Bowl, but the aftermath of the Nashville bombing early Christmas morning will prevent that from happening.
“I can confirm that the Christmas Day explosion in Nashville did impact our operations planning,” William Hill spokesman Michael Grodsky told The Action Network. “Regardless, we are working hard to launch our best-in-class betting experience to Tennessee sports fans in the upcoming weeks.”
William Hill was not one of the four sportsbooks to originally launch online betting back in November. While there is an unlimited number of licenses available in the state, the gaming revenue tax and annual fee serves as a potential deterrent to potential parties.
The revenue tax is 20% along with a $750,000 annual fee.
For now, Tennessee bettors have four online options to consider for Super Bowl betting — DraftKings, BetMGM, FanDuel and Tennessee Action.
