Derek Brunson will try to strengthen his position in the middleweight class, while Darren Till attempts to re-establish it Saturday at UFC Fight Night.

Till will be the betting favorite against Brunson in the main event, which takes place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas. The event begins earlier, with the main card scheduled to start at 4 p.m. ET.

Till is the -180 favorite despite losing three of his last four fights. Those losses have all come against champions or top contenders: Robert Whittaker in July of 2020; Jorge Masvidal in 2019; and, Tyron Woodley in 2018. He managed a split-decision win over Kelvin Gastelum in November of 2019 in his last victory.

That all comes after a 6-0 start in the UFC, which got him the title shot against Woodley. He owns just two UFC wins by finish, knocking out Donald Cerrone in 2017 and Wendell de Oliveira Marques in 2015 in his debut.

Brunson is trending back up since his 2018 loss to Israel Adesanya. He’s won four fights in a row, most recently a unanimous decision victory over Kevin Holland in March. He’s currently ranked No. 5 in the middleweight division; Till is ranked No. 7.

The winner likely stays in a holding pattern in the division. Adesanya and Whittaker seem next to square off for the title. No. 2 Paulo Costa and No. 4 Marvin Vettori meet in October, but both are coming off losses to the champion Adesanya, so it could be too soon to call it a No. 1 contender match. No. 3 Jared Cannonier lost to Whittaker in October, but just picked up a victory over Gastelum in August.
