Things would have to be pretty unreal to top what happened during Euro 2020 action Monday, with Spain rallying for a wild 5-3 win and reigning World Cup champion France being eliminated from the tournament in utterly shocking fashion against resilient Switzerland.
The final two Round of 16 games take place Tuesday, highlighted by England going up against Germany in a battle of heavyweights at Wembley Stadium.

Germany and England enter the knockout stage with separate issues. For England, the Three Lions scored just two goals in group play and have looked anemic offensively against lesser sides at times.
For Germany, its defense has been very vulnerable, especially against counterattacks and transition play. The difference between these two is that England’s issues seem much more fixable when you think about how much space Germany has provided in behind.
England will be on the back foot in this match possession wise, but that could be better for a team with elite pace and runners in space like Raheem Sterling, Jack Grealish, Bukayo Saka and Jadon Sancho. As much as they’ve struggled to break down low blocks, the Three Lions won’t have that issue in this game.
Germany has elite wing-back play, but the English fullbacks are more than good enough to cope with them defensively and exploit the space behind Robin Gosens and Joshua Kimmich on the attack. England is at home, plus the nation is the more stable defensive side and has more than enough attacking talent to overwhelm a suspect German backline.
Portugal and Hungary exploited weaknesses in this German defense, and France nearly did as well. England should advance to the quarterfinal round.

It’s been kind of the polar opposite problem with both teams. England has somewhat struggled to create high quality chances, as it has only scored two goals, but it has been fantastic defensively.
The Three Lions haven’t allowed a goal and only conceded a total of 1.73 expected goals during the group stage, which was the second-best mark to only Italy.
On the other hand, Germany hasn’t had a problem scoring goals and creating chances, as it’s averaging 1.89 xG per match, but its back line is a real problem at the moment.
Watching Hungary — of all teams — be able to penetrate the German back line through the middle on too many occasions was really concerning, knowing they’re going to face a team that has the pace and technical ability of England no matter who manager Gareth Southgate selects.
I think what we will see in this game is actually a very similar script to the one France had against Germany, where England will sit deep, play a low block and then try to expose their foe’s high line on the counterattack with its pace.
This match will be played in London and will also be Germany’s first game away from Munich. That said, I really like England to win this meeting.
I have the Three Lions projected at -171 odds to advance, so I think there is a lot of value on them to move onto the quarterfinals at -130 odds.
