Clubs looking to build off impressive midweek performances go at it Sunday when Leicester City hosts Leeds United in a Premier League showdown.

The Foxes, who enter this match having gone unbeaten in their last seven games, have a shot to move into second place with a victory at King Power Stadium. Leicester City sits in third place on 39 points, just two points behind leader Manchester City.

On the other side, the high-flying Peacocks snapped a two-match losing skid with a 2-1 victory win over Newcastle United last time out. Leeds is comfortably in 12th place, sitting just three points being Aston Villa and Southampton in the standings.

Let’s take a look at these sides and see what might be on deck in this contest.

Leicester City

Manager Brendan Rodgers and his lads continue to deliver week in, week out this season. The Foxes, who will miss Jamie Vardy for at least one more outing, showed some grit in their come-from-behind draw against Everton at Goodison Park.

Leicester City had won three on the bounce prior to that stalemate, which included back-to-back, 2-0 shutout victories over Southampton and Chelsea.

The Foxes have getting things done at both ends of pitch, but have been particularly strong in their defensive third. They’ve conceded just 23 goals through 19 fixtures, so they’ll look to lock things down in the back against the offensive-minded Peacocks.

As for Leicester City advanced metrics, the club has produced respectable numbers. However, they’re nothing gaudy, which you probably think would be the case for a side in the hunt for a league crown.

The Foxes sit on 29.4 expected goals and 22.2 expected goals against, resulting in a solid +7.2 xGDiff and +0.36 xGDiff/90 minutes.

Leeds

The Peacocks continue to be “must-see TV” every time they step on the field, with a potent offense led by Patrick Bamford and Jack Harrison.

However, Marcelo Bielsa’s defense leaves something to be desired. Leeds has yielded a whopping 35 goals through 19 games, which puts them in 18th place overall for goals against in the 20-team league. Fortunately for the Peacocks, their prolific offense has made up for woes on the other side of the ball and kept them right in the middle of the table.

Bucking any normal trend, Leeds has actually done some major damage on the road this season. The Peacocks have racked up more away points than they have inside the friendly confines of Elland Road, which continues to prove they can cause trouble for an opponent in England’s top flight.

When comparing advanced metrics with Leicester City, Leeds’ numbers are all over the place. The Peacocks have a solid 30.5 expected goals, yet a brutal 34.0 expected goals against that result in a subpar -3.5 xGDiff and -0.18 for xGDiff/90 minutes.

Leeds’ xGA figure is second worst in the entire league, only trailing 19th-place West Bromwich Albion (37.6) in the rankings.

Betting Analysis & Picks

I have always shown my love for the Peacocks here and everywhere else. There is no team I tune in more to watch across Europe than this entertaining Leeds outfit.

However, my affinity for the club doesn’t mean I think they’re the right play all the time. And this match is one of those times I just don’t see the Peacocks finding much success against this well-rounded Leicester City side.

That said, I am riding the hotter overall hand in this confrontation and backing the Foxes on the moneyline at a fair price.

I will also play the total to go over the number as well. There have been at least three goals in Leeds’ last five road league matches, which has me feeling good about this wager.

Picks: Leicester City ML (-125) | Total Over 2.5 Goals (-165)
