Rutgers takes on Clemson on Friday night in a First Round Midwest Region matchup. Both teams have won three of their last five games, getting the job done with tough and effective defenses.

The Scarlet Knights stayed afloat in an incredibly tough Big Ten Conference, using the combination of their defense and the scoring talents of guard Ron Harper Jr. (15.4 points per game) to take down Indiana and Minnesota on their way to getting blown out by Illinois in the Big Ten Conference Tournament Quarterfinals.

Clemson only made it to the Second Round of the ACC Tournament, losing to a very unimpressive Miami (FL) team. The Tigers’ defense carries them through most matchups and they could see success in slowing down Harper & Co. on Friday.

That being said, Clemson is 98th in the nation in Adjusted Offensive Efficiency per KenPom and at some point, they will need one of their key players to play above their usual level to keep things close in Friday’s game. Our PRO Report seems to support this idea, with it reflecting sharp bettors’ support of Rutgers.
