How the No. 6 Rams Reached Wild Card Weekend
The Rams feel a bit under the radar for a team that clinched the over on its 8.5 win total and two years removed from a Super Bowl appearance.
Some of that is probably due to Jared Goff’s inconsistencies: He has six games with more than 300 yards passing, but seven with fewer than 250. He has 20 touchdowns to 13 interceptions.
Los Angeles was in the NFC West conversation with Seattle toward the end of the season, but back-to-back losses to the Jets and Seahawks had the Rams fighting for a final spot in Week 17.
How the No. 3 Seahawks Reached Wild Card Weekend
This won’t be the year Russell Wilson breaks through for an MVP, but his early-season performance had him dominating the conversation. With Seattle off to a 5-0 start, Wilson compiled 19 touchdowns to just three interceptions.
Wilson matched that with three interceptions in a Week 6 loss to Arizona, a performance that started a stretch of three losses in four games for Seattle.
The MVP talk faded, but the Seahawks didn’t.
Seattle won five out of six games to clinch the NFC West in Week 16 without Wilson performing like Superman consistently through that streak.
Seattle was seventh in the NFL in scoring heading into Week 17, but its defense is 23rd in yards allowed.
