NFL Prop Bets For Thursday’s Preseason Games: Steelers vs. Eagles & Patriots vs. Washington

PrizePicks is the first site I’ve ever seen take action on preseason player props. And while everyone likes to joke about how awful or boring NFL preseason games can be, what better way to make it more exciting than to sweat over player props involving fifth-stringers?

Operating under the daily fantasy umbrella — meaning they’re available in more states than outright betting is — PrizePicks offers a different spin on player props. Instead of betting on individual props, you parlay two or more props together, so I’ve identified the seven best options on the board based on my projections.

Keep in mind that we are essentially guessing with these picks, so be sure to only risk an amount you’re comfortable losing. I’m personally treating this more as entertainment than some get-rich-quick scheme.

NFL Preseason Props

Passing Props

Mac Jones (NE) Over 84.5 Pass Yards

Cam Newton will likely start the game, but I can’t imagine him playing for more than one quarter. It also means he’ll have to face Washington’s elite starting defense.

Considering there are only three preseason games this season, the Patriots may give rookie Mac Jones nearly an entire half to get some film on him. I’m taking the over here and would take it up to 88.5.

Rushing Props

WFT RB Jonathan Williams Under 26.5 Rush Yards

I haven’t seen any reports that Williams will get a ton of work tonight, so this prop seems too high. I would bet this down to 23.5.

Steelers RB Najee Harris Under 40.5 Rush Yards

Harris isn’t expected to see more playing time than he saw in the HOF game (where he rushed 7 times for 22 yards). If anything, they will try to get him more involved in the passing game tonight. I’d bet this down to 34.5.

Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson Over 26.5 Rush Yards

The Patriots love to give rookies like Stevenson plenty of reps in the preseason. He could sail over this number tonight. I would bet it up to 29.5.

Receiving Props

Patriots TE Matt LaCosse Under 12.5 Rec Yards

LaCosse likely gets exactly one reception tonight. The chances are that it’ll net less than 13 yards. I like the under here.

Eagles WR Quez Watkins Over 19.5 Red Yards

Watkins has been impressive in camp. The Eagles should get him enough snaps tonight to go over this number.

Patriots WR N’Keal Harry Over 19.5 Rec Yards

Harry has looked great in camp and demanded a trade. The Pats and Harry would like to see him go over this total and boost his trade stock, so add me to that list of people who will want him to go over this number.
