The start of the 2021 NASCAR season is just one week away and will get underway with the Busch Clash at Daytona International Speedway on Tuesday, Feb. 9 (7 p.m. ET, FS1).
The Busch Clash is an exhibition race, meaning no Cup Series points are on the line, and for the first time ever will be run on the Daytona road course as opposed to the oval that has been traditionally used in this event.
Additionally, this won’t be a typical race as a special criteria must be met for drivers to qualify for the race, including:
- Pole winners from the previous season
- Past Busch Clash winners who competed full time last season
- Past Daytona 500 winners who competed full time last season
- Past Daytona 500 pole winners who competed full time last season
- Last season’s playoff drivers
- Last season’s race winners
- Last season’s stage winners
While just an exhibition race, there’s nothing untraditional about the Busch Clash from a betting standpoint as sportsbooks will offer odds just like any typical NASCAR event.
Unsurprisingly, Chase Elliott, who has won the past four NASCAR Cup Series road course races, including at this very venue back in August, is the favorite with +175 odds.
Martin Truex Jr., who finished third and posted the second-best driver rating in that event, is next at +300.
And Denny Hamlin, the second-place finisher on the Daytona Roval last summer is third in line with +800 odds.
