Daytona Beach, Fla. is no stranger to wet, rainy weather, especially when NASCAR is in town.
The past two Daytona 500s have been delayed due to wet weather, as well as the summer race here two years ago which allowed Justin Haley to steal a win by playing the rain-strategy game.
And as I’m sure you’ve already gathered from the headline, rain is once again in the forecast for Daytona Beach on Saturday.
In fact, Friday night’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race was postponed until today at 12:30 p.m. ET (NBCSN) after rain flooded Daytona International Speedway after just 19 laps of green flag racing.
As is usually the case, timing is everything when it comes to rainy weather, and that will be a key factor in terms of the chances we see a rain delay for tonight’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 (7 p.m. ET, NBC) at Daytona.

NASCAR at Daytona Weather Forecast
According to the National Weather Service, the latest Daytona Beach weather forecast is calling for a 40% chance of rain today, including the potential for thunderstorms and wind gusts up to 20 mph.
However, the good news for NASCAR is that any precipitation that is expected to fall should move out by 3 p.m. ET, giving way to partly sunny conditions.
The updated NASCAR weather forecast shows just a 20% chance of rain in Daytona Beach on Saturday night, so there should be plenty of optimism that the Coke Zero Sugar 400 starts on time and goes the full 400-mile distance tonight.
