The Orioles head to Tropicana Field to take on the Rays on Monday night. Baltimore is in the midst of a league-leading (tied with the Chicago Cubs as of this writing) 11-game losing streak.

Throughout the streak, the Orioles have absolutely fizzled out on the offensive end.

Yes, the Orioles have given up quite a few runs over this horrendous stretch, but it is especially noteworthy that they have produced five runs over their last three games, a rate of 1.67 runs per game that would be historically bad if extrapolated over a full season.

This season, Tampa Bay has been great and currently sits 3.0 games ahead of the surging Red Sox and 5.5 games ahead of the Yankees. The Rays have an offense that can produce numbers. Tampa Bay enters Monday night ranked third in runs and just outside of the top-10 in slugging percentage.

The Rays will have Collin McHugh open the game on the mound for them with the bullpen slated to pull the majority of Monday night’s work. Nonetheless, McHugh is 4-1 with an outstanding 1.41 ERA this season.

With the combination of a strong Tampa Bay bullpen and a woeful Baltimore offense, it is easy to see the perfect storm for the under brewing. Let’s take a closer look at the total in our latest MLB PRO Report.
