The Baltimore Orioles take on the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday in the second game of their of their three-game series in Toronto.
Obviously, Baltimore comes in as a massive underdog. The woeful Orioles have a 40-90 overall record, plus they lost their fourth consecutive game Monday. The Blue Jays earned a 7-3 win, with Vladimir Guerrero hitting two home runs.
The now infamous 19-game losing streak Baltimore recently suffered through ended August 25 via a 10-6 victory over the Los Angeles Angels. In that game, the Orioles were powered by homers from Anthony Santander, Cedric Mullins and DJ Stewart.
Of course, there is no guarantee the Orioles can pop off two or more homers in this meeting, but Toronto’s Hyun Jin Ryu has been less inspiring than usual in recent starts. He has given up between four to seven earned runs in three of his last four starts, including giving up seven earned runs over 3.2 innings pitched against the Chicago White Sox.
Keegan Akin is taking the mound for the Orioles. While Akin’s 1-8 record and 7.26 ERA don’t inspire much confidence, he was solid in pitching seven innings of three-hit ball in Baltimore’s 13-1 drubbing of the Los Angeles Angels on August 26.
