The Astros have lost three of their last five games heading into Friday night’s matchup in San Diego. Meanwhile, the Padres are coming off of a series win over the Diamondbacks.

San Diego will have the polarizing Jake Arrieta taking the mound at Petco Parka after he joined the team last month.

The Astros offense is dominant but has been faltering as of late. Houston scored zero runs over their last two games (both losses to Seattle). And they produced two runs in a 13-2 loss to the Rangers on Aug. 29.

With the Astros offense in a bit of mini-slump of sorts, expect the Padres to have a chance to pull off the upset.

Arrieta has been uninspiring all season long but the Padres have an offense that is just outside the top-10 in runs. San Diego can put up runs in a hurry and they will need to do so early and often to support Arrieta.

MLB Picks: Astros vs. Padres Odds

Sharp Action

The line for Astros-Padres opened up at San Diego +127. The line hit a low of +103 late Thursday evening before settling at a consensus of +114 as tracked by three Action Labs Bet Signals.

Sharps really saw value in San Diego at +127 and bet it all the way down before some buyback pushed the line to +114, around where it sits now.

Big Money

At the time of this writing, the 26% of bettors backing the underdog Padres have generated 71% of the money wagered on Friday’s matchup.

This massive 45% difference is a sign that that the biggest bets being placed—the bets likely being made by professional/sharp bettors—are being put on the home dogs.

PRO Report Pick: Padres +114 (+115 at PointsBet and Bet365)
