We have another busy slate on Tuesday’s Major League Baseball card, with our analysts targeting two games on the schedule.

Matthew Trebby kicks things off with his pick tied to the game featuring the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels.  Fellow handicapper Jeff Hicks follows that play with an angle from the showdown between the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Check out how they’re playing these games below.

Yankees vs. Angels

Pick Yankees -1.5 (-120)

Pitchers Jameson Taillon vs. Jaime Barria
First Pitch 9:38 p.m. ET

Matt Trebby: The Angels have won three of their last nine games, with all six of losses having been by multiple runs. Those games were against the middling Indians, terrible Orioles and struggling Padres.

A Shohei Ohtani home run helped the Halos get the opener from the Yankees on Monday, and it was presumed the American League MVP favorite was going to be on the mound for Tuesday’s game. He was scratched, though, and Los Angeles is stuck with Jaime Barria in his place.

Barria has been bad, and his numbers indicate it’s not going to get much better. He has a 5.56 ERA over 34 innings (eight appearances; six starts) with a 6.15 xERA and 5.31 xFIP. The Angels bullpen doesn’t offer much in terms of quality support, as it ranks 24th in MLB over the last 30 days with a 4.79 ERA.

New York’s relief corps has a 3.12 ERA in that mark, and it will be backing up Jameson Taillon. The right-hander thrived from the start of July to early August, but has allowed three or more runs in each of his last three starts. He still has a 2.84 ERA since the All-Star break, though, and faces a pretty subpar Angels lineup without Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon.

In case you haven’t heard, the Yankees thriving and I expect them to give Barria plenty of trouble before Joe Maddon turns to his bullpen. It’s setting up very nicely for the Bronx Bombers to convincingly end their three-game losing streak in Anaheim.

Braves vs. Dodgers

Pick Under 8 Runs
Book DraftKings
Pitchers Charlie Morton vs. Walker Buehler
First Pitch 10:10 p.m. ET

Jeff Hicks: This pitching matchup is a must-watch if you can. Walker Buehler and Charlie Morton have combined for 25 wins and Buehler is a Cy Young frontrunner. For what it’s worth his ERA is worse at home than on the road, but no one is complaining about his 2.13 home ERA.

Morton does not have as sterling of a resume as Buehler, but his 3.08 road ERA and .191/.290/.276 slash line against will help stymy the Dodgers offense.Â

The Dodgers offense has been league-average at home in August (101 wRC+), which helps the Braves’ top-ranked road offense this month (126 wRC+).

If the Dodgers did not have their best starter going today the Braves ML would be a smash play for me, but since this game could come down to a timely hit, betting the over/under is the way to go, especially at -110. If the hook goes to 8.5, I would still be interested in a juiced line to -125 odds.
