AL Wild Card

New York Yankees (90-68): Holds one-game advantage over the Red Sox for the top AL wild-card spot.

Next Game: Thursday at Toronto, 7:07 p.m. ET

Boston Red Sox (89-69): Hold 1/2-game advantage over Mariners and one-game advantage over Blue Jays for second AL wild-card spot.

Next Game: Thursday at Baltimore, 7:05 p.m. ET

Seattle Mariners (89-70): Trail Red Sox by 1/2 game for second AL wild-card spot.

Next Game: Off Thursday; Friday vs. Los Angeles Angels, 10:10 p.m. ET

Toronto Blue Jays (88-70): Trail Red Sox by one game for second AL wild-card spot.

AL West

Houston Astros (92-66): Holds 3.5-game advantage over Seattle for AL West title. Magic number to clinch is 1. Will clinch AL West title with a win in any of its four remaining games, or a loss by Seattle in any of its three remaining games.

Next Game: Thursday vs. Tampa Bay, 7:10 p.m. ET

NL East

Atlanta Braves (85-72): Holds 4.5-game advantage over Philadelphia for NL East title. Magic number is 1. Will clinch NL East title with win Thursday against Phillies. The Braves need one win OR Phillies loss the rest of the way to win their fourth straight NL East title.

Next Game: Thursday vs. Philadelphia, 7:20 p.m. ET

Philadelphia Phillies (81-77): Need to win out and have the Braves lose out to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.

Next Game: Thursday at Atlanta, 7:20 p.m. ET

NL West

San Francisco Giants (104-54): Have two-game advantage over Los Angeles with four games remaining. Holds tiebreaker in the event that the two teams finish with identical records.

Next Game: Thursday vs. Arizona, 9:45 p.m. ET

Los Angeles Dodgers (102-56): Trails San Francisco by two games with four remaining.

Next Game: Thursday vs. San Diego, 10:10 p.m. ET

Tampa Bay Rays: Have clinched AL East title.

Chicago White Sox: Have clinched AL Central title.

NL Central

Milwaukee Brewers: Have clinched NL Central title.

NL Wild Card

San Francisco Giants: Have clinched playoff berth. Will host NL Wild Card Game if they do not win NL West.

Los Angeles Dodgers: Have clinched playoff berth. Will host NL Wild Card Game if they do not win NL West.

St. Louis Cardinals: Have clinched playoff berth. Will be second NL wild-card team and will play either the Giants or Dodgers in NL Wild Card Game.

Seeding

American League

Tampa Bay Rays (98-60): Have clinched No. 1 seed and home-field advantage throughout American League playoffs.

Houston Astros (92-66): Need one win AND one White Sox loss to clinch No. 2 seed and home-field advantage in ALDS.

Chicago White Sox (91-68): Will be No. 3 seed and start ALDS in Houston unless they win out and Houston loses three of its final four games, OR they win two of their final three and Houston loses its final four games. Houston holds tiebreaker if the teams finish with identical records.

San Francisco Giants (104-54): Will be No. 1 seed and have home-field advantage throughout playoffs if they win the NL West. Otherwise will host NL Wild Card Game.

Los Angeles Dodgers (102-56): Will be No. 1 seed and have home-field advantage throughout playoffs if they win the NL West. Otherwise will host NL Wild Card Game.

Milwaukee Brewers (95-63): Have clinched No. 2 seed and will have home-field advantage in NLDS against NL East champion.

St. Louis Cardinals (88-70): Will be the second wild-card team and play at the loser of the NL West race in the NL Wild Card Game.
