Mac Jones was named the New England Patriots starting quarterback on Tuesday and his odds to win the NFL MVP and Offensive Rookie of the Year have already shortened precipitously.

Jones now has the second-most money (17.8%) to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year after the line moved from +1200 to +500 at BetMGM on Tuesday.

The former Alabama quarterback is the third-highest liability to win the award behind the Jets’ Zach Wilson and the Steelers’ Najee Harris.

Jones’ odds to win the MVP also shortened considerably. His odds coming into Tuesday at BetMGM were +25000. That line has since moved to +8000 and represents 0.2% of the total money.

Meanwhile, Jones’ odds to have the most interceptions shortened from +8000 to +2500.

Jones went 36-for-52 (69%) with one touchdown and no interceptions over the preseason.

He threw for 4,500 yards with a 77.4% completion percentage, 41 touchdowns and just four interceptions during his 2020 campaign with Alabama. The No. 15 overall pick finished third in the Heisman voting behind teammate DeVonta Smith and former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

Cam Newton was released after Jones was named the starter. Newton’s odds to win the NFL MVP lengthened substantially to 200/1 from 80/1.

Newton’s odds to put up the most passing yards went from +5000 to +50000, his odds to log the most passing touchdowns went from 40/1 to 200/1 and his odds to throw the most interceptions went from +2500 to +10000.
