The Bengals, who won just six games total over the past two seasons, improved to 2-1 with a convincing 24-10 road win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.
The young duo of Joe Burrow at quarterback and Ja’Marr Chase at wide receiver has been nothing short of explosive this season, and it gives the team a potential combination of offensive weaponry for years to come.
In Week 3 the Bengals travel to Jacksonville for Thursday Night Football, and a win over the 0-3 Jaguars would put them in a great spot at 3-1 on the season.
Oddsmakers like Cincy’s chances as well, opening it as a 7.5-point favorite for Thursday night’s game.
The Bengals vs. Jaguars spread is not only big for a road favorite, it’s the first time that Cincinnati has been this big of a favorite in years.

According to our Bet Labs software, the Bengals have not closed as favorites by more than a touchdown since Nov. 26, 2017 when Cincinnati took the field at -7.5 against the Cleveland Browns.
In fact, Cincy has been a road favorite of 7.5 points just 27 times since the start of the 2003 NFL season, going 12-14-1 (46.2%) against the spread (ATS) in those games.
Of course, nobody should make betting decisions based on that data alone.
However, NFL favorites of more than seven points have underperformed overall dating back to 2003, posting a 530-569-14 (48.2%) ATS record over that span.
