The Chicago Cubs had an eventful trade deadline.

After underperforming for the first half of the season, the Cubbies decided to become sellers, dealing Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Craig Kimbrel and Javy Baez and starting a total rebuild on the North Side.

With key offensive components now elsewhere, this also has an effect on the betting market or how bettors now perceive the new-look Cubs.

On Sunday afternoon, the Cubs visit the Washington Nationals for a game currently with an over/under of 8.5 runs.

And interestingly enough, the Cubs vs. Nationals total is also offering the biggest (by far) betting edge of the day per The Action Network’s MLB Pro Projections.

So, what’s the edge bettors should be locking in?

Is the depleted Cubs offense one that should be faded? Or is the negative perception of Chicago’s lineup now providing value on the over?

Well, here’s there answer.

Cubs vs. Nationals Pick

Our MLB betting model projects the Cubs vs. Nationals total at a lofty 9.7 runs, which, as I mentioned above, is much higher than the current 8.5 market consensus (click here for live MLB odds).

The difference between our projection and the available total results in a very enticing A-minus graded, 8.7% edge for the Cubs vs. Nationals over.

To put this in perspective, the next largest edge comes from Indians vs. White Sox at 5.9%, showing just how bullish our model is on the Cubs vs. Nationals over.
