The Dallas Cowboys might think they’re still “America’s Team,” but most of betting America prefers the Pittsburgh Steelers in Thursday’s Hall of Fame Game.
Dallas and Pittsburgh officially begin the 2021 NFL preseason, where the Steelers are 2-point favorites across the market, up a full point from the opening number (live odds here).
According to betting data released by both PointsBet and BetMGM, the Steelers are attracting the majority of the bets. At BetMGM, 87% of all dollars wagered are on Pittsburgh. The Steelers are taking 75% of all bets at PointsBet, although the handle isn’t quite that high at 66%.
The Action Network’s P.J. Walsh has the details on the total, which has been getting hammered by sharp bettors all afternoon. The total sits at 31.5 at time of publication on Thursday at 5 p.m. ET.
Mason Rudolph is going to start at quarterback for the Steelers, head coach Mike Tomlin announced. Rudolph was a third-round pick out of Oklahoma State in 2018 and has seen game action in each of the last two years filling in for Ben Roethlisberger.
After Rudolph, former Washington starting quarterback and first-round pick Dwayne Haskins is listed third on the depth chart. Long-time Steelers backup Joshua Dobbs is fourth.
The Cowboys will be without starting quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver Amari Cooper, among others. It’s likely Garrett Gilbert gets the start under center for Mike McCarthy. Following Gilbert on the depth chart is Ben DiNucci and Cooper Rush.
