How Colts Reached Wild Card Weekend
Philip Rivers was the big free-agent addition to replace Jacoby Brissett a year after Andrew Luck’s surprise retirement. With 11 wins, the move paid off even with Rivers having his typical Rivers moments. He’s thrown for more than 4,000 yards with 23 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
The Colts did well to not suffer any back-to-back losses and have notable wins over the Titans and Packers.
How Bills Reached Wild Card Weekend
What a leap the Bills’ offense has taken in 2020.
This is no defense-first team anymore. Offensive coordinator Brian Daboll unleashed Josh Allen and an offense that is near the top in most major categories. The result was an AFC East championship and real belief in a postseason run.
Allen — always knocked for his accuracy — saw an 11% improvement in completion percentage this season that took him up to 69%. He threw for more than 1,200 more yards than in 2019, and his interception rate dropped.
The Bills improved from 24th in yards per game to fourth heading into Week 17. With 29.7 points per game, the offense jumped from No. 23 last year to sixth heading into the season finale.
Stefon Diggs has been the perfect match with Allen. In his first year with Buffalo, the former Vikings receiver led the NFL in receiving yards.
All of that adds up to a home playoff game and a sterling 11-5 record against the spread.
