Tuesday, Sept. 28 Update
By Stuckey
One line I’m watching very closely this week is Nevada vs. Boise State. I show value at +6.5 but would obviously love to grab +7, so I will wait patiently to see if it pops at any point.
If you’re unaware, the Action App enables you to set up a Line Watcher Alert, which will notify you of line moves for games you wish to monitor.
Quarterback Situations to Monitor in Week 5
In addition to the line for Nevada vs. Boise State, I’m also monitoring the following quarterback situations this week:
As reported by Manny Navarro of The Athletic,
“Manny Diaz said QB D’Eriq King is improving and feeling better every day. Diaz said King was ‘able to move around a little bit today.’”
As reported by Pete Sampson of The Athletic,
“[Notre Dame head coach] Brian Kelly asked about the quarterback situation. ‘If (Jack Coan) looks good, he’ll be our starter and Tyler Buchner will play.’ Adds that if Coan doesn’t respond in practice, that Drew Pyne would start with Buchner rotating.
As reported by 99.1 The Sports Animal,
“Josh Heupel Missouri week Monday press conference is underway. Says he does not know Hendon Hooker‘s availability for Saturday just yet. Joe Milton was not 100% last Saturday, but available to play and did late.”
As reported by Jay Drew of the Deseret News,
“Kalani Sitake says QB Jaren Hall ‘will be practicing today’ and most likely will be ready to play vs. USU on Friday, barring another setback.”
It will be interesting to see if the Spartans go with Wilson Eget or Nick Nash (who has been playing wide receiver).
Hilinski is now listed as the Wildcats starting quarterback, per Northwestern’s official depth chart.
Kendall did not play last week due to COVID-19.
As reported by Brandon Helwig of Rivals,
“Stepping in for the injured Dillon Gabriel, true freshman Mikey Keene gets the start at quarterback [over Joey Gatewood] this week when UCF visits Navy.”
As reported by Justin Ferguson of the Auburn Observer,
“Auburn HC Bryan Harsin said earlier today that a decision hasn’t been made between starting Bo Nix or T.J. Finley for the LSU game.”
As reported by Curtis Wilkerson of HawgSports.com,
“After having two of his best, KJ Jefferson and Treylon Burks, get banged up in Saturday’s 20-10 win over Texas A&M, Sam Pittman is optimistic both will be ready to roll against the Bulldogs.”
Doug Brumfield left the game against Fresno State with an injury. His status for Week 5 is unknown. There’s a big drop-off after him on the depth chart.
As reported by Kellis Robinett of the Wichita Eagle, Will Howard left with an injury last game. It’s still unknown if original starting QB Skylar Thompson is healthy enough to go this weekend.
Kurtis Rourke left in the fourth quarter with a knee injury vs. Northwestern in Week 4. UNLV transfer Armani Rogers would become full-time starter if Rourke misses any time.
As reported by Ben Bolch of the Los Angeles Times,
“Chip Kelly said Dorian Thompson-Robinson is cleared to practice [Monday].”
As reported by Sam Khan Jr. of The Athletic,
“Texas Tech QB Tyler Shough broke his collarbone, Matt Wells said. Wells estimated he’ll be out six weeks and won’t be back until November.”
UL Monroe quarterback Rhett Rodriguez was hospitalized in intensive care with a collapsed lung due to an injury suffered on Saturday vs. Troy, per Heather Dinich of ESPN.
As reported by Michael Hanich of Saturday Tradition,
“On Monday, head coach Ryan Day said (CJ Stroud) is ‘feeling much better’ going into the week of practice, according to Dan Hope with Eleven Warriors. It is still in question if Stroud will be healthy enough to play on Saturday when Ohio State travels to face the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.”
Continue to monitor news related to the ongoing USC quarterback competition between Jaxson Dart (week-to-week) and Kedon Slovis (neck).
Per Sal Interdonato via Twitter, “Jeff Monken said QB Christian Anderson is day to day after apparent shoulder injury vs. Miami (Ohio).”
“It’s a painful injury that he’s got. Fortunately, it’s not anything broken or anything like that. Just going to have to work on getting the swelling out and getting him healthy. He’s still hurting pretty good from the injury. We’ll get him rehabilitation every day. We’re just going to see how it progresses. We’re not sure on the timeline of it right now.”
