Cleveland turned in another woeful regular season, but one in which their young players showed some tremendous growth.
The Cavaliers saw guard Collin Sexton put up a career-best 24 points and 4 assists per game in a growing role.
Cavaliers point guard Darius Garland was impressive in his second season as Cleveland’s head playmaker, putting up 17 points and a team-leading 6 assists per game.
Center Jarrett Allen was great for the Cavs in the 2021 regular season. Allen averaged a near double-double and was solid as a defender in the paint. His restricted free agency could be costly for Cleveland.
Looking to replace the possible lost production of restricted free agent Allen and Kevin Love (who could be a prime trade candidate) will be important for the Cavaliers this offseason.

NBA Draft Needs
- Scoring Wing: The Cleveland Cavaliers’ offense ranked 28th out of the 30 teams in the league in 2021. They posted a woeful 105.2 points per 100 possessions. Cleveland has talented guards in Darius Garland and Collin Sexton, and are likely to bring back restricted free agent center, Jarrett Allen. They drafted defensive-minded wing Isaac Okoro in the 2021 NBA Draft but still need more scoring punch to round out their rotation.
- Frontcourt Depth: Though he recently made the US Olympic team, Love didn’t look anything like his usual, productive self in 2021. This season Love put up the second-lowest points per game average (12.2 PPG) and the third-lowest minute total of his career. On top of that, their young, talented center Jarrett Allen is due for a new contract this offseason. Cleveland will be in desperate need of respectable, rotation big men in the 2022 season.
