Best Super Bowl Squares

The best Super Bowl squares are exactly what you’d expect: Combinations of 0s, 3s and 7s — aka numbers common in football between field goals (3) and touchdowns (7) and the two combined (10).

Before we fun through each quarter, here are the best overall numbers:

Best 1Q Numbers

There’s no surprise that in the first quarter, 0-0 is the square with the highest probability of winning, followed by combinations of 0s, 3s and 7s.

Variance increases as a game progresses, so probabilities for the first quarter are more “straight forward” than for the final score.

Best 2Q Numbers

The best numbers for the second quarter are still combinations of 0s and 7s, but their probabilities do decrease relative to the first quarter.

Best 3Q Numbers

The third quarter isn’t all that different from the second, though 3s continue to decline since those are less likely after teams cross 13 points.

Best Final Score Numbers

The biggest change over the course of the game is the rise of 8 — it’s more likely that a team has 28 or 38 points by the end of the game than at any previous point.
