Chicago Bears fans have been clamoring for rookie quarterback Justin Fields. They got their wish in Week 2, though under unfortunate circumstances.

Starter Andy Dalton suffered a non-contact injury during the second quarter versus the Bengals. He came up hobbled after scrambling down the sideline on a quarterback run.

Dalton completed seven of his eight attempts for 41 yards prior to exiting. Wide receiver Darnell Mooney was the favorite target, catching three passes for 29 yards from the veteran signal caller.

Fields and the offense turned the ball over on downs after taking over. David Montgomery took a pair of handoffs, before Fields was stuffed on 4th & 1 from the Bengals’ 32.

Dalton returned to the game, but hit the locker room with trainers late in the second quarter. He was ruled questionable to return.

Fields was the fourth quarterback taken in this past draft, behind Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson and Trey Lance. He began his college career at Georgia, before lighting up the Big Ten with Ohio State. Fields, a dual-threat out of Kennesaw, Ga., led the Buckeyes to a College Football Playoff appearance last season, where they lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Dalton signed with the team during the offseason. He and the Bears dropped their Week 1 opener against the Rams, 34-14.

Although Fields saw limited playing time, he notched his first career rushing touchdown last week.

The Bears hit the road next week to take on the Cleveland Browns, who also dealt with a quarterback injury Sunday. Baker Mayfield exited briefly in the second quarter against the Texans, but did return.
