The betting world has rallied around Jordan Spieth in 2021, and bettors aren’t shying away now as he tries to complete his career Grand Slam with a win at this week’s PGA Championship.
Spieth is in a familiar position as the most popular play at almost every sportsbook for this week’s major. It’s been a common occurrence all spring. From winning outright to a top-five finish, money is coming in from every direction.
The Action Network sorted through data released by BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, PointsBet and William Hill to find Spieth has taken more bets than anyone at each book. Not only is he attracting the most bets, but he’s also attracting the most dollars. It seems sharps, squares, circles and triangles are united on Spieth this week in the outright market.

It’s not only the outright market. Spieth is a liability for first-round leader bets at FanDuel and Top-5 finish bets at both BetMGM and DraftKings.
One of the bigger payouts made public is on Spieth after a bettor wagered $3K at William Hill on him for a $48,000 profit.
Plenty of familiar names are being played outside of Spieth. At BetMGM, Dustin Johnson and Justin Thomas are the second-most bet golfers, and Rory McIlroy has taken the second-most money.
One bettor went as far as putting $10K on Thomas to win the tournament, good for a $150K potential payout.
However, it’s Keegan Bradley listed as the book’s biggest liability, along with Spieth and Viktor Hovland.
Hovland is another popular name this week, coming in the top five of bets placed at each of the five books. He’s not the only golfer attracting attention to win his first major this week. Xander Schauffele, Will Zalatoris and Daniel Berger are also up there in popularity.
Schauffele is the most popular of the trio, taking top-three handle at PointsBet, FanDuel and William Hill.
While money is coming in on World No. 1 Dustin Johnson, not all of it is to win. He’s a popular play to miss the cut, according to William Hill.
William Hill notes two other golfers seeing significant liability or line movement.
Sam Burns is second in liability to only Spieth and has seen his odds drop from 125-1 all the way to 30-1. Meanwhile, Victor Perez is down from 300-1 to 75-1 after a bettor in Illinois risked $500 to win $150K should he win the tournament.
Two other big bets to report at William Hill: Both McIlroy and Jon Rahm have received $3,000 wagers which would pay out $48K and $42K, respectively.
