The Chicago White Sox have placed pitcher Carlos Rodon on the 10-day injured list with left arm soreness, and his Cy Young odds have plummeted as a result.

While Rodon was +275 at PointsBet entering Wednesday, his odds have lengthened all the way to +600 as a result of the news.

There is a possibility that Rodon could be out for more than 10 days, too, ESPN reported.

Rodon has thrown for a 2.38 ERA over 19 starts and 109 2/3 innings so far this season. The 28-year-old had also been second in the American League in strikeouts with 160.

Teammate Lance Lynn is now the staunch favorite to win the Cy Young for the first time in his career. (In fact, the 34-year-old has never even received a single vote for the award.)

Lynn’s odds shortened from -170 to -200 after Rodon was placed on the IL.

Lynn has the lowest ERA in the American League at 2.04 and has done so over 20 starts and 114 2/3 innings. The two-time All-Star also leads the AL in hits per nine innings with 6.672.

The next closest ERA is Robbie Ray, who has a 2.90 earned run average heading into play on Wednesday — almost a full run higher than Lynn’s mark.

Ray’s odds have also shortened significantly and moved on Wednesday from 25/1 to 13/1.

PointsBet took a $1,250 bet on Ray to win the AL Cy Young Award a few weeks ago at +8000, an analyst at the sportsbook, Michael Korn, told The Action Network. That bet would net $100,000 if it hits.
