Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book and running back Kyren Williams were standout performers when the Fighting Irish beat Clemson in the regular season, but expectations are being tempered for the rematch in the ACC Championship game.
According to player props available at FanDuel, Book and Williams both have totals well below their numbers from the 47-40, two-overtime win in November.
Perhaps that should come as no surprise with the Fighting Irish listed as a 10.5-point underdog to the Tigers. The total for the game is 60.5 at time of publication.

Book threw for 310 yards in the first meeting, despite completing just 56.4% of his passes, down from his season average of 63.3%. That was his second-highest output of the year, right behind his 312 yards passing against Pittsburgh.
The senior quarterback averaged 238 yards through the air and has topped 254 yards six times this year, including each of his last four games.
Lawrence missed the first meeting between these two teams due to COVID-19, but he watched Tigers freshman D.J. Uiagalelei torch Notre Dame for 439 yards. Lawrence has thrown for over 328 yards four times this year, but he is coming off a mediocre showing against Virginia Tech, during which the potential No. 1 overall pick in next year’s NFL Draft completed 12 of 22 passes for 195 yards.

Notre Dame held Etienne to just 28 rushing yards on 18 carries in the regular season. Since then, he’s recorded games of 66 and 58 yards on the ground. He failed to reach 85 yards in seven of Clemson’s 10 games.
Williams, meanwhile, has had the opposite success to Etienne’s. He has reached 75 rushing yards in seven of 10 games, including 140 yards the first time these teams met.

Williams opened the scoring with a 65-yard run in the first meeting. In the three games since, Ben Skowronek, Williams and Book have each scored Notre Dame’s first touchdown.
