A new online sportsbook entered the Virginia sports betting scene on Wednesday.
Unibet, a European-based book that currently operates in three other states — New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Indiana — has become the seventh legal operator in the Old Dominion (check out all of Virginia’s sportsbook offerings here).

Despite its now seven operators, Virginia currently does not have a brick-and-mortar sportsbook, meaning all of its action — including what will come through Unibet — is digital. The state did, however, list a group of cities that can begin planning and approving brick-and-mortar locations.
Virginia’s bill also restricts action on local college teams, so like the rest of the books in the state, Unibet’s users will not be able to wager on UVA, Virginia Tech, VCU, or any other in-state programs.
