The mystery went up until Roger Goodell made the announcement, but the San Francisco 49ers drafted Trey Lance with the third overall pick, ending the drama of the most popular prop bet on the market.

Lance closed as the -200 favorite after opening the day as an underdog. But as word spread behind the scenes, the betting market reacted moving Mac Jones out of the favorite spot to a +160 underdog. Justin Fields was the longshot of the three options at +850.

Over 47% of the money at PointsBet was on Jones to be the third pick, while Fields had most of the bets placed. It was the most-bet draft prop ever.

As late money came in on Lance, it wasn’t enough to offset the rest of the action at sportsbooks. DraftKings came out a winner on the result, Darren Rovell reported.

It was also reported that the 49ers were interested in trading for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who reportedly told people inside the organization he didn’t want to return to Green Bay next season.

Lance was the third quarterback off the board. Trevor Lawrence was the first selection by the Jacksonville Jaguars. The New York Jets, as expected, took Zach Wilson second.
